Executive Director Report

We have made significant progress with the development of the Minnesota Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MNLEAP). We are looking to launch the program in early 2025 so that agencies can apply to begin the accreditation process. We will be releasing more information about the program and the process soon.

We are now hiring an Accreditation Specialist to provide critical assistance to law enforcement agencies enrolled in MNLEAP and working towards achieving accreditation. This position will work closely with law enforcement agencies to help them navigate the process and requirements of the program. The position will also provide support to the MNLEAP Director and MCPA Executive Director to help with short-term and long-term objectives to ensure program success.

Please share this job posting with anyone you know who might be interested.

Thank you,

Jeff Potts

IACP 2025 Denver Hotel Info

IACP

Below is important information about 2025 IACP lodging from Chief Pete Peters (ret.), Executive Director of the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association who serves as the IACP housing coordinator for the Midwest.

As we prepare for IACP 2025 in Denver, the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association has partnered with other state associations to secure a room block for our members. Despite some challenges with room availability, our dedicated housing coordinator is actively working with OnPeak to ensure rooms are accessible and available in our block. Here’s the latest on room options, booking details, and ongoing advocacy to secure accommodations for our members.

Room Availability and Advocacy

Our room block includes two hotels near the Denver Convention Center, offering a total of 175 rooms, divided as follows:

Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown Denver Convention Center
1420 Stout Street, Denver, CO 80202
Rooms Available: 100

Sonesta Denver Downtown
1450 Glenarm Place, Denver, CO 80202
Rooms Available*: 75

In response to recent cancellations, our housing coordinator has been working closely with OnPeak to reclaim and reinstate any canceled rooms. This week alone, additional rooms at the Sonesta were returned to our block, allowing two members to book them immediately. Please note that canceled rooms are not always automatically returned to our block, but we are continually advocating for them to be restored.

Additional Efforts and Room Availability

While attending IACP 2024 in Boston, our coordinator met in person with OnPeak’s lead contacts, Tiah Ansari and Nancy Cowie, to discuss the anticipated need for additional rooms.

Due to high demand, IACP and OnPeak had to temporarily close general room booking in Denver, with IACP’s site now noting “No Rooms Available – Housing is Closed until January 2025.” As OnPeak secures additional rooms, we are requesting more for our block to accommodate all members.

How to Book

To book your room, please use our dedicated link: https://compass.onpeak.com/e/42ICP2025HIR/in/rsvp/Ed5H9PAdChWMt)

After selecting your dates and entering payment details, you’ll receive confirmation, and you can adjust your reservation later if needed. For assistance, OnPeak’s support team is available at 866-524-7456 or via email at IACPhotels@onpeak.com.

Reminder

Pete Peters, who coordinates the shared housing block, cannot assist with individual booking changes. Please contact OnPeak directly for support.

Additional rooms will become available over the coming months. By securing your reservation early, you can avoid the challenges posed by high demand in Denver. We’re looking forward to IACP 2025 and are committed to providing a smooth booking experience for all members.
