About the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation (MCPF)

The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation (MCPF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works in direct partnership with the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association. Established in 2009, the Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of corporate leaders, business executives, and supportive citizens.

About MCPF’s Community Partnership Grant Program

MCPF believes strong community partnerships should be a core principle in modern-day policing practices. They proudly offer grants to Minnesota police departments to help them advance community partnerships and deepen their trust with the public, including strong relationships with the business community, residents, youth, and community organizations.

Community trust-building programs require funding and resources that many police departments do not have. MCPF is stepping in to fill that gap. With the support and generosity of many businesses and individuals, MCPF helps local police departments engage through community relations projects, surveys, programs, and initiatives that build trust, transparency, and strong relationships.

A simple yet effective way to publicize a newly received grant is through social media using your department or city's official accounts. Please mention or tag the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Foundation in all social media posts about your grant-funded event.

Like and follow all of MCPF's digital media channels!

Social Media Post Templates

The Foundation team has created sample social media posts and graphics for your agency to use. Feel free to use these or create your own! All you need to do is modify the posts and graphics to be specific to your agency and event.

Design Templates

Customized social media design templates for the community grant partnership program are available on Canva. To access the templates, visit the public view links for grant announcements, event announcements, or post grant recaps, make a copy of the template, and personalize it for your department's events.

The customized templates are also available as PDFs that can be personalized using Adobe computer software.

If you anticipate media coverage for your event, notify MCPF staff.

We encourage you to contact your local media outlets to share details about your upcoming community event. To support your efforts, we've provided a press release template for promoting the event and a post-event recap template to highlight its success. If media coverage is arranged, we’d be happy to assist in coordinating interviews with Executive Director Jeff Potts or Foundation board members.

Post Grant Report

After your agency’s grant-funded event, please submit a post-grant report within 60 days of its conclusion.

These reports play a vital role in helping MCPF demonstrate the value and impact of the grant program to the public, donors, and sponsors. This strengthens the program’s reputation and supports efforts to secure future funding and ensure its long-term success.

Participating in the grant program allows MCPF to use of project summaries, impact statements, photos, video footage, and related materials. These may be featured on the MCPF website, social media platforms, and other marketing channels to showcase the program’s positive outcomes and inspire continued support.
