Excellence in Innovation Award
Honoring innovative Minnesota police agencies for enhancing law enforcement effectiveness.
The MCPA Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes large and small Minnesota municipal police agencies and their CLEOs for superior achievement and innovation. This award program is designed to recognize exceptional, innovative, and extraordinary achievements in law enforcement programs, efforts, or initiatives that benefit law enforcement as a profession.
Award & Presentation
The award highlights agencies' achievements in implementing innovative programs or initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement and the communities they are sworn to protect and serve. The Excellence in Innovation Awards is presented annually at the Executive Training Institute (ETI).
The MCPA Board of Directors will review submissions based on the criteria below and choose one small and one large agency to receive the Excellence in Innovation Award.
Nomination Requirements
- Nominations submitted by TBD
- Nominations submitted by any Minnesota municipal police agency, city, or county official using the form below.
- Small agencies must have 15 or fewer sworn officers.
Judging Criteria
The following criteria areas will be used to judge nomination submissions. All nominations should explicitly address these four categories:
- Level of Innovation
- Effectiveness
- Ability to replicate
- Overall Impact
The Excellence in Innovation nomination form will open in early 2025.
